Guitar 5 is a Jay Turser SG type, model JT50. The old locations of the volume knobs are now coil tap blend knobs. That's a pick stuck in the strings - the yellow part of the pick was dipped in tool handle grip paint. The pickguard is clear mirror acrylic.

Guitar 3 was the very first Volectar guitar for sale. It's a Copley SG type, model CEG-CG. The old locations of the volume knobs are now capacitance selection switches for the tone controls. Guitar 3 was bought in November 2011 by Montana musician Steve Walle.

Guitar 2 is the third prototype, the first with the proper joystick we worked so hard to find. It was built from a used Jay Turser. By the way, that's a compass and thermometer stuck on next to the two tone control knobs. |

Guitar 1 is our second prototype, assembled from used pieces and a new neck. Nicknamed the "Klingon Guitar", it bore the brunt of testing the optimized single joystick circuit design. It still has an older joystick; the better one won't fit under that beautiful blue pickguard.

Guitar 0 hosted the very first prototype volector circuits. It still has two 100KOhm mini joysticks - one a true volector and one to simultaneously control tone on both pickups. (That turned out to be less than intuitive to use.) The mini joysticks wore quickly and became noisy after a year of use. The body was cut down from an old Univox, and fitted with Gibson pickups. |
